The Canadian singer’s 2019 smash has overtaken Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” to become the most streamed song in the history of the streaming service, according to Chart Data. Additionally, The Weeknd was one of the most streamed artists on Spotify by the end of 2022.
The Weeknd shared Spotify’s daily global chart statistics on Twitter on New Year’s Eve (December 31) to commemorate the achievement, which saw him defeat Sheeran’s 2017 tune by 918,000 filtered streams. For the caption, he wrote, “FOR NEW YEARS???
