Blackstreet Celebrate Street Name Unveiling In Paterson, New Jersey

In their hometown of Paterson, New Jersey, Blackstreet have been given special recognition with their very own street.

On Friday, July 28, the official street renaming ceremony took place in Paterson, New Jersey, on Presidential Blvd. between W. Broadway and Temple St.

Councilwoman-at-Large Dr. Lilisa Mimms, the principal driving force for the renaming, explained that she gathered with other council members to celebrate the group because she wants to recognize local talent while it is still possible for them to do so.

Mimms told Tapinto.net, “I believe in recognizing our local talent and giving them their flowers while they can smell them. “Preserving our city’s cultural heritage and motivating future generations requires honoring our artists’ accomplishments and contributions.”

The band’s lead singer Chauncey Hannibal also provided the aforementioned magazine with a remark regarding the significance of the street reveal.

He expressed his gratitude and utmost humility for the city of Paterson’s appreciation. “It is an honor to be recognized in the city where it all started for us, and I hope that our journey can encourage young people in this neighborhood to follow their dreams without fear.”
