Black Thought will be collaborating once again, this time with El Michels Affair, to release an album.
The Roots MC and the Brooklyn-based “cinematic soul” ensemble will collaborate on 12 new songs for the recently-announced record, “Glorious Game,” which is scheduled to be released on April 14 via Big Crown Records.
Black Thought and Leon Michels, the creator of the El Michels Affair and friends for about 20 years, recorded the album during the lockdown period of the epidemic after Thought initially contacted him for beats.
On Wednesday, the group released its debut track, “Grateful,” in conjunction with the announcement (January 11). Below, you can hear it:
The album Cheat Codes, which Black Thought and Danger Mouse released together in August 2022, will be followed by Glorious Game. With contributions from Raekwon, Joey Bada$$, Russ, MF DOOM, A$AP Rocky, Run the Jewels, Conway The Machine, and others, the album reached No. 43 on the Billboard 200 chart.
