Biz Markie’s ‘All Up In The Biz’ Documentary Shines Light On Rapper’s Life In New Trailer

Biz Markie will always be remembered as one of Hip Hop’s most distinctive artists, and a brand-new documentary is now celebrating the life of the late rapper.

All Up In The Biz’s trailer, which debuted on Monday (July 17), includes a ton of previously unreleased material on the late rapper as well as interviews with some of his closest pals, including Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, and Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels from Run-DMC, among others.

Sacha Jenkins, who also directed the artist-focused documentaries Bitchin’: The Sound And Fury of Rick James and Wu-Tang Clan: of Mics and Men, directed the documentary. She discussed her next record and the influence Biz Markie has on hip-hop in her interview with Southern Laced.

She declared that Biz Markie embodies hip-hop in its purest form. “He mastered its abilities, lived it, and believed in it. Most people are unaware of the fact that he enhanced some of culture’s finest poets along with others using those abilities. I had the good fortune to meet Biz when he was still living, so it’s a special film to be able to bring him back to life now that he’s gone.

On August 11, All Up In The Biz will make its television debut on Paramount+ and SHOWTIME.

Biz Markie, who was born Marcel Theo Hall in 1964, began his career in New York City before settling in Washington, D.C. The hits “Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz,” “Nobody Beats the Biz,” “Vapors,” and “Pickin’ Boogers” are all from Biz’s 1988 debut album Goin Off.

He quickly acquired the moniker “The Clown Prince of Hip Hop” due to the humor in his music, and he continued to release albums in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
