Brandon Young, a Black entrepreneur from Birmingham, Alabama, has built a $100 million company after the tragic loss of his brother in 2019.
Young’s brother, Randy, was shot and killed outside a Trussville restaurant during a parking dispute. The devastating event pushed Young to leave his job and start his own business. “I used the pain to fuel the fire,” he said. “I could either give up or I could keep going and try to make an impact.”
That same year, Young launched Young Management & Consulting, which provides project management, construction management, and strategic consulting. The company has since grown to employ more than 120 people and serve clients across the U.S. and in the United Arab Emirates, generating over $100 million in revenue in just six years.
Raised in Center Point, Young graduated from Erwin High School before earning degrees from Auburn University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His background in construction management helped form the basis of his firm’s services.
Now 39, Young is aiming to grow the company into a billion-dollar global supplier. He says the mission goes beyond financial growth, with a focus on impacting lives and inspiring other entrepreneurs in Birmingham and beyond.
“People in Birmingham are impacting the world, and the world needs to know that people from Birmingham are truly delivering,” he said.
