Big Sean Teases Full-Length Collaboration With The Alchemist.

Big Sean may be the next rapper to drop a project fully produced by The Alchemist. Although the Detroit rapper just released his latest album Better Me Than You, he hinted in an interview with Complex that he’s working on a complete collaboration with the iconic producer.

When asked about handling the pressures of fame—something he emotionally opened up about on Instagram Live—Sean explained, “I’ve been feeling burnt out because I’ve taken on so many music projects at once. By that, I mean my album and also working with Alchemist.”

He also shared that he’s been brainstorming ideas for his duo project with Jhené Aiko, Twenty88. Some of these ideas, along with a few big collaborations, might be added to Better Me Than You.

Sean discussed a track called “My Life” with KAYTRANADA, which closes his album conceptually. “It’s like the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said. “But after I turned it in, I thought about adding an alternate ending, like in movies.”

Sean also mentioned almost including a collaboration with Nicki Minaj and a Twenty88 track on the album, but the songs weren’t finished in time.

Fans got a taste of what a Big Sean and The Alchemist project might sound like through their bonus track “Together Forever” on Better Me Than You. The serene production by The Alchemist complements Sean’s lyrics about staying loyal to his girlfriend.

This is their second collaboration after “Palisades, CA” from The Great Escape, The Alchemist’s joint album with Larry June.

What makes this potential project exciting is The Alchemist’s history of working with Detroit artists, like Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, and Danny Brown, as well as his extensive catalog of collaborations, including Alfredo with Freddie Gibbs and albums with Earl Sweatshirt, Conway the Machine, and Roc Marciano.
