The album is part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It series, announced in April 2025, which also includes releases by De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, and Raekwon.
Big L’s family released a statement noting the project fixes past issues with unmixed or unmastered tracks, cleared samples, and unpaid producers. They encouraged fans to share which songs they hope to hear, allowing supporters to contribute to the creative process.
