Big Boi Prepares First Solo Album In Eight Years With Killer Mike’s Support.

Big Boi is preparing to release his first solo album in eight years and has enlisted Killer Mike to help tease the project. In a video shared on social media on March 26, the two Atlanta artists were seen in a recording studio, joking about fighting off Stormtroopers. Killer Mike added to the anticipation by praising the new music, while Big Boi confirmed the album’s progress in his caption.

Since OutKast went on hiatus in the mid-2000s, Big Boi has released three solo albums: Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, and Boomiverse. He has also worked on collaborative projects, including Big Grams with Phantogram in 2015 and Big Sleepover with Sleepy Brown in 2021. His history with Killer Mike dates back years, with their most recent collaboration being “Return of the Dope Boi” in 2019.

While Big Boi is returning to solo work, there is no indication of an OutKast reunion. In an interview with Rolling Stone last year, André 3000 said they were further from making a new album than ever before. He reflected on the group’s past chemistry and suggested that artistic expressions do not always need to continue indefinitely.

Despite the unlikelihood of new OutKast material, the duo was recently nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the first time. If inducted, they will join a select group of hip-hop artists, including JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., and Run-D.M.C.
