This week, Big Boi joined the Atlanta Braves broadcast team for a few innings and used the microphone for something other than rapping.
Big Boi was present at Truist Park on Thursday night (May 25) as the Atlanta Braves celebrated OutKast Night versus the Philadelphia Phillies. The first 15,000 spectators to enter the stadium received bobbleheads of the ATL rap heroes.
Big Boi threw out the opening pitch before the game, which skipped to home plate, before working as a sports announcer on the side.
Just before entering the field, he said on his Instagram Story, “Sold out tonight.” I have to throw out the opening pitch. I tore my muthafuckin’ rotator cuff exercising with a rod for the previous two days.
The 48-year-old then went to the broadcast booth for the bottom of the third inning, where he was shocked by Aaron Nola, the Phillies’ all-star pitcher,’s brutal pitching.
After a Nola strikeout, Big Boi remarked, “He put the mustard and mayonnaise on that one.” The youngster received some criticism for the play, lawd. What the hell is that? That young man is wonderful.
Fans gave Big Boi’s broadcasting debut high praise as they gave their approval to his color commentary on Instagram.
“Hey, it was awesome. Maintain this. Baseball with Stank,” one user remarked, while another added: “Yo @braves, you need to make this a regular occurrence!”
The Braves defeated the Phillies 8-5 to improve to 31-19 overall and widen their lead over the New York Mets in the NL East. Big Boi proved to be a lucky charm in this game.
The OutKast legend André 3000 wasn’t there at the Braves game, but he was photographed earlier this week playing his flute while roaming the streets of Japan.
