Beyoncé & Kelly Rowland To Build Homes For Houston’s Unhoused Community

According to reports, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland would work together to address Houston’s housing issue.

Officials from Harris County said on Tuesday (June 27) that the former members of Destiny’s Child will help build 31 permanent housing units in Houston’s Midtown neighborhood.

The American Rescue Plan will also contribute cash, amounting to roughly $7,000,000, to the Knowles-Rowland housing development.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Judge Lina Hidalgo stated that “Harris County and the city of Houston, jointly with the coalition for the homeless, have reduced homelessness in the middle of the pandemic by 20%, and we’ve been able to hold that reduction.”

Initiatives like this one, she continued, “I certainly will support no matter who is behind them, but it’s especially interesting, in my opinion, because there are names like Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland who, of course, have been supportive of the community for a very long time.”

Hidalgo said that when the Renaissance World Tour makes a visit in Houston later in September, a “even bigger launch” would be announced.

The housing complex would reportedly also provide access to “case managers, peer specialists, service specialists, and support services, like transportation, mental health, physical and behavioral health support,” among other things, for its occupants.
