Beantown Stax Shares Insight on the Realities of Artist Management.

Behind every successful artist is a manager who navigates the highs, the lows, and everything in between. While artists are the face of the music industry, their managers work tirelessly behind the scenes—strategizing, negotiating, and ensuring their clients are in the right rooms at the right time. The role demands patience, resilience, and a deep belief in the talent they represent, often long before the rest of the world takes notice.

Artist manager Beantown Stax, who represents Jo Saza and Analise under her management company, TheROOTD, took to Instagram to reflect on the often unseen work that goes into managing artists.

“The work you don’t see is where the real magic happens,” Stax captioned her post, soundtracked by Lentzmartn. In the accompanying video, she shared a candid perspective on the role of an artist manager, describing it as a journey without a roadmap, driven solely by the destination.

“Managing artists sounds really cool until you try it and realize the weight of what you signed up for,” she said. “You play the advisor, the coach, the friend, the therapist, and the one other person who believes in them enough to be delusional and bet on something that isn’t even guaranteed.”

She went on to emphasize the responsibility that comes with the job, explaining that managers don’t just handle logistics—they carry an artist’s dreams, fears, and vision.

“There’s such a quiet beauty in it, you know?” she continued. “When you plant a seed in the soil of a dream far bigger than what you imagined. And when the world catches up, it was you, who saw the roots before there was even a sprout.”

Ending on a reflective note, Stax encouraged fellow managers to stay committed to the process. “Stay blessed and stay rootd.”
