BAMS Fest Celebrates National Volunteer Week With a Call to Action.

As National Volunteer Week kicks off, Boston Art & Music Soul Festival — better known as BAMS Fest — is spotlighting the community power that has kept its mission alive since its founding in 2016. The organization took to Instagram this week to honor its volunteer base, including founder Catherine T. Morris, acknowledging the heart and effort poured into building one of Boston’s cornerstone cultural festivals.

Huge shout out to every single volunteer… who has given their time, energy, and heart to build this organization. 💜 We see you. We appreciate you. We celebrate you,” the post reads.

BAMS Fest has been largely volunteer-run from the beginning, a fact the organization is leaning into as it prepares for its 2025 season and its broader programming initiative, Momentum. Volunteers, they note, aren’t just helping run logistics — they’re shaping narratives, cultivating community, and helping elevate music, dance, and visual art across the city.

Those who sign up to volunteer receive more than a thank-you. In return for their time, participants receive:

  • An official BAMS Fest volunteer t-shirt
  • A Festival-branded drawstring bag
  • Complimentary meals, snacks, and water during their shift
  • A chance to connect with artists, attendees, and fellow volunteers from across the Greater Boston area

Beyond the perks, the organization highlights the deeper value of volunteering: contributing personal experience, energy, and joy to a celebration that reaches thousands each year.

“Kin, where have you been?” the organization wrote in its latest call for volunteers. “You’re not just offering your time and gifts—you’re shaping stories, creating community, and bringing the heartbeat of BAMS Fest 2025 & Momentum to life.”Interested individuals can sign up or learn more at bamsfest.org/volunteer.
