At The November American Music Awards, J.I.D, Tems, And Others Will Perform

The performers who will take the stage at the 2022 American Music Awards in November have been unveiled, including J.I.D and Tems.

On a formidable pop-heavy roster that includes P!NK, Wizkid, D-Nice, and Carrie Underwood will also perform at the 2022 American Music Awards, it was revealed on Monday (October 31).

The 2022 American Music Awards, hosted by Wayne Brady, will air live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Sunday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. On ABC, at EST/PST. The show will be shown the next day on Hulu, and more artists are expected to be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

In terms of nominations, Steve Lacy and Latto are up for New Artist of the Year, while Canadian contemporaries Drake and The Weeknd are vying for Artist of the Year. Doja Cat, Lizzo, and Beyoncé will compete for the title of Favorite Female Pop Artist.

The announcement brings to a close a historic year for Tems and J.I.D. Tems, a rapper from Dreamville, recently released his eagerly awaited album The Forever Story. He also contributed a somber cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry” to the soundtrack for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film.

In a recent interview with HipHopDX, director Ryan Coogler mentioned working with the latter and expressed his opinion that Tems was the ideal choice for the tune.

“We were heading to Nigeria to work with Tems, and we were pleased about that since her career has just taken off in the last few years. So, we thought, what if we had Tems do a cover of [No Woman, No Cry]? As a result, when we visited Tems in her hotel room in Lagos with her team, she expertly covered the Bob while Ludwig Göransson produced and put the song together. I’ve never been more pleased with my career’s introduction of a movie to an audience.

J.I.D stated that he is already hard at work on his upcoming album and that it would probably be a Gangsta Grillz tape with DJ Drama in an interview with Complex.

“Me and [DJ] Drama are really gonna do it right,” J.I.D said. “I’m talkin’ about on other n-ggas beats. We’re going to do a DiCaprio 3.”
