At The 2023 Grammys, Dr. Dre Accepted The Inaugural Dr. Dre Global Impact Award

The first-ever Dr. Dre Global Impact Award has been given to Dr. Dre in recognition of all of his contributions to the music business.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards were hosted at the Crypto.com Arena in his hometown of Los Angeles on Sunday night. The renowned producer and mogul accepted the prize, which is of course named after him (February 5).

The honor “recognizes the contributors, creatives, and professionals with a proven track record of uplifting Black music,” according to the award, which was developed in collaboration with the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective.

Fellow Hip Hop pioneer LL COOL J gave Dre the eponymous honor and praised the 57-year-old in his speech, calling him “a legend who helped establish West Coast Hip Hop and has become one of the most impactful success stories of our time.”

The Doctor took the stage to speak briefly after a video montage highlighting his ground-breaking rap career, which included his early days with N.W.A, breakout solo success with The Chronic, and forming Aftermath Entertainment and Beats By Dre.
