Lil Wayne and Missy Elliott have been exchanging flowers frequently lately, and Tunechi has just upped the game with a unique present.
The Virginian turned to Twitter on Friday (May 26) to post pictures of the incredibly creative gift Wayne sent her: a customized raincoat and matching umbrella that paid homage to Missy’s smash song from 1997, “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).”
“@LilTunechi again I Thank you for the Amazing coat that you had made for me (purple is my favorite color) & you even got me the umbrella that says ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ on it!” As Missy noted:When it rains, the umbrella spells it out. I sincerely thank you.
Weezy pulled up to Missy’s wax figure’s debut at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas in November, surprising her. The “Work It” rapper sent respect to Weezy in return and said that he was responsible for “birthing a whole generation” of rappers.
“@LilTunechi It’s simple for people to recognize someone’s greatness when they are no longer alive, but I want you to know that YOU ARE LEGENDARY. You have given birth to a whole generation after you. “Your BLUEPRINT is Present, Regardless of Whose Opinions Are Differing! No argument.
In this industry, it can be challenging to run into a genuine person, but when you do, don’t let them go, she continued. A big hug will show them how much you value their contributions to culture! I’m grateful to @LilTunechi.
When listing his top five rappers on the What’s Wright? With Nick Wright podcast in May, Lil Wayne put Missy at the top of the list.
It will always be Missy Elliott first, he remarked. She has had a significant impact on anything I’ve ever done. The greatest speaker to date is JAY-Z. Biggie, naturally. The entire Goodie Mob is next in line. Next, I have UGK.
Weezy has also said in the past that Missy gave him the idea to start adding ad-libs to tunes.
