The final Open Studio of 2024 at Artists For Humanity’s EpiCenter was a vibrant celebration of young talent, held on October 29 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. This free event, which welcomed the public into Boston’s arts hub at 100 W 2nd St., showcased the culminating exhibition from this year’s AFH Artist Fellows. The event highlighted the innovative works of fellows Audrey Calhoun, Tori “thirteenvic” DelValle, Dubem “CalvinKleinCaterpillar” Okafor, Taijai Slaughter, and Ananda Toulon, offering attendees an in-depth look at the creative expressions developed through the fellowship.
Adding a musical layer, local artists performed an energetic mix of rap, pop, and hip-hop from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., infusing the exhibition with a dynamic, live soundtrack. Beyond art and music, visitors enjoyed guided tours through AFH’s seven creative studios, gaining insight into the creative processes that shape these young artists’ works.
The event was made possible thanks to contributions from The Phyllis and Jerome Lyle Rappaport Foundation, the TD Charitable Foundation, and the Trustees of the Nathaniel Saltonstall Arts Fund. Attendees were able to hear directly from the fellows in an engaging Artist Talk, where they shared personal insights on their creative journey and the impact of their fellowship experience.
AFH’s commitment to supporting Boston’s young creatives reflects their mission to foster artistic and entrepreneurial growth, transforming lives and communities through the power of art.
