André 3000 has confirmed that fans can expect more music from him in 2025, following the release of his solo debut, New Blue Sun, last November after nearly two decades of waiting.
In a recent interview at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, the OutKast legend shared his plans. “New music, for sure. New ways to distribute and express,” André said. “I don’t wanna pinpoint what it is, but I just wanna express more.”
While he did not confirm whether he would stick to the flute or return to rap, André, 49, has previously stated that his inspiration to write lyrics has waned with age.
In an earlier conversation with Touré, André revealed he is “almost a third — or halfway —” through his next album. Though no release date has been set, he aims to maintain creative momentum.
Interestingly, New Blue Sun does not count toward his contract with Epic Records, despite earning a Grammy nomination. André explained that label stipulations require albums to be stylistically consistent with previous work to prevent artists from submitting unfinished or experimental projects as official releases.
“They’ve been supportive, but as a business, this is the stance they took,” he said. Fans, however, can look forward to André’s continued evolution as an artist.
