Aladdin “Prince of the Airwayz” Talks Radio, Fraternity Life & Jay-Z’s ‘My President Is Black’ Remix.

In the latest episode of The Spadez Table, Aladdin “Prince of the Airwayz” sits down for an unfiltered conversation about his journey in radio, personal life, and some defining moments in his career.

As the cards hit the table, Aladdin reflects on his 15-year career in radio, tracing his start from Bowie State University’s college station to working overnight shifts in Washington, D.C., and eventually landing on Shade 45 in New York. His path also took him to Cox Radio in Florida, and in addition to radio, he’s been DJing professionally for the last seven years while producing for artists like King Pen Slim.

Beyond the industry, Aladdin opens up about his first-generation American upbringing, being the son of a Trinidadian father and a Haitian mother who met at Michigan State University. His father later became a calculus professor at Howard University, and Aladdin himself pledged Kappa Alpha Psi, earning the line name “Diamond D.”

One of the most unexpected stories from the episode comes when Aladdin recalls being the first to hear and release Jay-Z’s verse on the remix of Jeezy’s “My President Is Black” after Barack Obama’s 2008 election victory. According to him, the moment went down at Club Love in D.C., solidifying his place in a historic hip-hop moment.

The conversation isn’t all about career milestones—Aladdin also dives into more personal topics, including a scandal involving being caught cheating and his experiences in community work, particularly his involvement in TASSA (Teens Against the Spread of AIDS), where he helped teens navigate real-life challenges through theatrical role-playing.
