The diamond-selling song “Lollipop” by Lil Wayne was his first to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. on Wednesday (December 14).
The Recording Industry Association of America awarded a diamond certification to the Young Money rapper’s song “Lollipop.” For a song or album to be certified as diamond, 10 million copies must be sold.
Lil Wayne thanked his followers on Instagram as he celebrated his accomplishment. Additionally, he paid tribute to the late Static Major, who was a character in “Lollipop.”

“My first joint to go diamond wowwww!!!” Weezy wrote. “Thank you to all my fans and supporters. I Ain’t Sh*t Without Y’all!!! #LongLiveStaticMajor.”
A few hours later, Lil Wayne uploaded a video to Instagram showing him holding his diamond plaque. He again showed his gratitude as he thought about the success.
“10 million singles sold,” he said in the video. “That’s a lot of people. I appreciate every single one of you. I swear to God.”
In 2008, Lil Wayne released the track “Lollipop.” The tune on Tha Carter III included Static Major as an assistant.
On the Billboard Hot 100, “Lollipop” reached its peak at No. 1 in 2008. His first single to top the charts was that one. The song stayed at No. 1 for five weeks.
