A$AP Rocky has been cleared of felony assault charges after a four-year legal battle. The rapper celebrated in the courtroom when the not guilty verdict was read and later outside with his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, whom he jokingly dubbed “A$AP Joe.” Facing up to 24 years in prison, Rocky could have shifted focus to his family, but instead, he took to social media to tease the release of his long-awaited album.
Rocky made the announcement on Twitter with a simple tweet: “DON’T BE DUMB.” No further details were given, but the title alone sent fans into a frenzy. The album has been one of the most anticipated rap releases of the 2020s, with its rollout stretching back to 2018 when Rocky first unveiled the name after dropping TESTING.
The album has faced multiple delays. Singles like “HIGHJACK” with Jessica Pratt and “Ruby Rosary” with J. Cole were well-received but failed to chart significantly, as did the loosie track “Tailor Swif.” Originally scheduled for August 30, 2024, DON’T BE DUMB was pushed to spring, only to be delayed again—likely due to Rocky’s legal troubles.
Now free of legal concerns, Rocky appears reenergized. “Gotta thank God first… I really wanna thank the jury for making the right decision,” he told reporters. “This whole experience has been crazy for the past 4 years but I’m thankful…” With his name cleared, fans are hopeful that DON’T BE DUMB will finally drop in 2025.
