A Second Chance: Billy’s Story of Redemption on The Bounce Back Podcast.

Billy is a Haitian American from The Coast section of Cambridge Massachusetts. He tells his life story with B-Luke on this episode of ‘The Bounce Back Podcast’. Billy grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, specifically in the Coast area. He describes a challenging upbringing in subsidized housing. He had difficulties in school and was eventually incarcerated for an extended period (15-17 years). While incarcerated, Billy earned his GED and learned valuable life lessons. He speaks about the impact of confinement and how it changes one’s perspective. After his release in 2011, Billy started working at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education. 

He then moved into the hospitality industry. Currently, Billy is a general manager and consultant in the restaurant industry. He has relationships with over 20 restaurant managers in Boston. Billy emphasizes the importance of personal growth, legitimizing money, and finding one’s purpose. He encourages others, especially young people, to focus on self-improvement and legal ways to succeed. He expresses pride in his brother’s success and other people from his community who have achieved positive things. Billy talks about his goals, which include getting into commercial property and expanding his business ventures. Billy’s main message is about survival, personal growth, and making something of oneself beyond past struggles or illegal activities.
