A New Bet Talk Show Titled "The Wine Down" Is Announced By Mary J. Blige

The first program on Mary J. Blige’s schedule under her new contract with BET is a chat show called The Wine Down.

The Wine Down will feature Mary having “raw, provocative, intelligent, and honest” conversations over wine with “the trendiest, most vocal” celebrities in their respective areas, according to a Deadline story on Tuesday (December 20). She will executive produce as well.

The program is a component of a 2019-launched first-look non-scripted agreement between the network and the illustrious singer’s Blue Butterfly media organization. And it’s very possible that Mary’s Sun Goddess wine, which she and Italian winemaker Marco Fantinel introduced in 2020, will be served to the guests.

“BET has been one of my biggest supporters throughout my career,” Mary J. Blige said in a statement. “Being able to now create together and for them to be so supportive of my vision for the type of content I will create, is something I am grateful and excited for.” “We already have multiple projects in the works, and there is much more to come.”

Mary has had a huge year, which began with her sentimental Super Bowl halftime show appearance with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent. Her 2001 single “No More Drama” received a huge 520 percent rise in streams after the performance.

The weekend before she played in the Super Bowl, Mary released her 14th studio album, “Good Morning, Beautiful,” which was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Album. In addition, the multi-hyphenate published her first children’s book, Mary Can!, continued to play Monet in Power Book II: Ghost, and was even given a day in Atlanta in her honor.

Blue Butterfly has also revealed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate Television in addition to her collaboration with BET.
