Among the belongings left behind by the late John Singleton is a painting by 2Pac that was featured in the 2001 smash movie Baby Boy and is valued at $75,000
An updated list of the assets Singleton left behind when he passed away in 2019 was disclosed in court filings that the filmmaker’s estate filed on Wednesday (February 1).
In addition to the ‘Pac painting, Singleton also owns the well-known lowrider bike seen in Baby Boy, which is estimated to be worth $50,000. A $700 original Boyz n the Hood poster and 13 director script binders for great movies including Poetic Justice, Shaft, Black Snake Moan, and Hustle & Flow were also included.
His mother Sheila Ward, who is in charge of Singleton’s estate, identified his total assets as being worth approximately $156,700. Boxes of vintage comic books and seven personal journals that he kept while working on different movies are among the additional artifacts. When valuing the journals at $3,500, the filing mentioned John as “a prominent movie director, who had a huge impact on the movie industry and movie history.”
After repeated strokes, John Singleton passed away unexpectedly in April 2019 at the age of 51. He was not only the youngest but also the first African-American to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Director. He received the nod for Boyz n the Hood in 1992 when he was only 24 years old.
