First Look At Beyoncé-Inspired "Swarm" Amazon Series Shared By Donald Glover

A first look at Donald Glover’s upcoming Beyoncé-inspired Amazon series Swarm has been made available.

In Swarm, performed by Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah), a young lady named Dre is described as being fascinated with a fictional pop artist, and the show follows her fandom as it leads her to “dark, unexpected places.”

“We just thought it’d be fun to make a post-truth Piano Teacher mixed with The King of Comedy,” Glover said, referencing the 2001 erotic psychological drama and 1982 Martin Scorsese film. “Me and my brother Stephen were talking about finding someone like Isabelle Huppert, as far as risk-takers in performances.”

Along with Damson Idris from Snowfall, singer Chloe Bailey plays Marissa, Dr. Dre’s sister, in the series.

“A lot of people did it out of the kindness of their hearts and they did a really great job,” Glover added. “Dom, Damson, Chloe. I was really blown away at how hard they worked on the tone, ’cause it’s a strange one.”

Before the entire trailer for Swarm was released, Vanity Fair released exclusive photographs from the film.

The show, according to Swarm co-creator Janine Nabers, seems like “a sister to Atlanta” and occupies “the same tonal space” as the Emmy-winning FX series. This is made possible by the fact that the two shows were mostly created by the same team.
