With this week’s achievement of her 20th gold-certified record in the US, Jhené Aiko has joined the ranks of Beyoncé, Rihanna, and others.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified her 2020 single “Above and Beyond” off her third studio album Chilombo as Gold on Wednesday (January 25), indicating that the song has sold over 500,000 copies.
The news represented a professional turning point for the six-time Grammy-nominated songbird, one that just a small number of Black female musicians have attained. Jhené Aiko has earned a spot at the table with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Doja Cat, and Mariah Carey thanks to her 20th Gold single.
