JID closed out Dreamville Festival 2025 with a performance that marked the beginning of a new era for the artist. On the Shine Stage, he gave fans an exclusive preview of his upcoming work, premiering his unreleased track “Wrk.”
The song features lyrics reflecting JID’s experiences, including lines like, “You couldn’t even stop my drive to fill with 1955 / And I’m on ’85 doing 95 in a 1952 Dodge / I done seen so much with 2 eyes I don’t even feel a way / Just neutralize ’em / Been criticized, I’ve been scrutinized.” Fans in the audience were treated to the first live listen of the track, which continues his exploration of personal and reflective themes.
JID had previously teased a collaboration with Anycia, but that track has yet to be officially released. However, “Wrk” seems to be on a different path. Following the performance, a pre-save link for the song was shared online, signaling its eventual release. While the song does not have a confirmed release date, fans can look forward to it in the near future.
In an interview with Complex, JID expressed his gratitude to fans for their patience as he works on finalizing his collaborative album with Metro Boomin. “The song preview was really dedicated to the fans,” JID said. “I’m letting them know [the album is] really happening opposed to just weightless words.” He acknowledged the complexities of balancing both business and music, emphasizing the importance of managing both aspects.
Fans will have to wait a bit longer for the official release of “Wrk,” but with the pre-save link now available, anticipation for the track continues to build.
