Udio Launches AI Style Reference Feature and Faster Music Generation Update.

Udio has introduced two new updates, including an AI-powered style reference feature called ‘Udio Styles.’ This tool allows users to generate new music that reflects the sonic characteristics of existing tracks but is only available for content they own or control. Designed for artists and commercial creators, the feature helps maintain consistency across projects by allowing users to upload audio samples to generate compositions with similar instrumentation and tone. Udio says the feature can be useful in advertising, film scoring, and podcasting.

GRAMMY-winning composer Jordan Rudess praised the tool for its ability to inspire and expand creative possibilities. The update comes amid ongoing litigation against Udio and its competitor Suno, as major record labels accuse them of using copyrighted material without permission. Udio maintains that its system supports only content that users own or control, though it has not detailed how compliance will be enforced.

The platform is also introducing v1.5 Allegro, an update that reportedly increases processing speed by up to 30% without compromising quality. Co-founder Andrew Sanchez stated that these updates reinforce Udio’s mission to enhance artistic expression. Since launching in April 2024 with backing from investors like a16z and will.i.am, Udio claims to have gained millions of users worldwide.
