Jagged Edge Reflects on 25+ Years in R&B, New Album, Tour, Timeless Hits & Staying Drama-Free.

Jagged Edge, one of the most enduring R&B groups of their era, sat down with Angela Yee and the Lip Service crew for an insightful conversation touching on everything from their early beginnings to their views on love and marriage. Despite decades in the industry, the group remains grounded, crediting their bond and shared history for their continued success.

The group—composed of twin brothers Brian and Brandon Casey, Kyle Norman, and Wingo—reminisced on their origins, all of which trace back to their time in church choirs in Atlanta. Brian and Brandon, raised by a jazz-singing mother, always had music in their household, while Kyle’s foundation came from gospel music. Wingo, the last member to join, recalled how getting kicked off his high school football team led him straight into the group’s lineup.

Jagged Edge spoke about maintaining their original lineup for over two decades, a rarity in R&B. Their latest album, All Original Parts, is a nod to that loyalty. They also revealed their original group name was “Twin AK” before being inspired by a movie to switch to Jagged Edge. Conversations about a biopic have also begun, following the success of the New Edition film.

Despite their longevity, tensions have flared at times. They laughed about fights over basketball jerseys, a chaotic weekend of performances that saw them clashing with another group, and even their road manager temporarily quitting. Yet through it all, their bond has remained intact.

Unlike many artists today, Jagged Edge prides itself on maintaining privacy. They credit their early success to a time before social media oversharing, believing a little mystery has worked in their favor. “There’s barely any drama or gossip about y’all,” the hosts noted, to which the group agreed, adding that their focus has always been on the music.

Known for their classic love songs, the group reflected on their personal experiences with love and marriage. Three of the four members have been married, with Wingo currently engaged. They believe in moving on when relationships end but acknowledge how their music resonates with fans going through heartbreak.

They also weighed in on why marriage rates are declining, citing social media and fears over divorce settlements. Kyle, drawing from personal experience, emphasized the importance of being “equally yoked” in a relationship.

Jagged Edge is keeping the momentum going with a new album that dropped on Valentine’s Day, led by the single “Be Careful What You Wish For.” They also spoke about their upcoming tour, which includes a major stop in Atlanta, with tickets available via Live Nation.

With 11 albums under their belt and a new generation discovering their music through TikTok, Jagged Edge continues to prove that classic R&B never fades.
