Playboi Carti shared an update on his long-awaited album I AM MUSIC via Instagram, saying the project is complete. “ME N WHEEZY TALKING ABOUT SOME OL OTHER SH*TT,” he wrote, alongside a text from producer Wheezy mentioning a Jay-Z sample from “Girls, Girls, Girls.” Fans have been waiting for the album for years.
Despite the update, some listeners remain skeptical. “Still never dropping,” one person wrote on X. Another added, “I’m calling cap.” Their doubt follows past delays and recent comments from DJ Akademiks, who said Carti’s own Opium label appears confused about the rollout.
Last week, Akademiks said he contacted Opium and didn’t get any clear answers. “They don’t know what the f*ck Carti’s doing,” he said. Still, he credited Carti for maintaining buzz without releasing much new music, adding, “Even if he dropped like a trash album, I think people would like it.”
Carti now faces a deadline. If I AM MUSIC isn’t out by March 12, the label will have to refund fans who pre-ordered the album.
