AI music creation app Hook has partnered with independent distributor Too Lost, allowing fans to legally remix songs by artists like Justin Bieber, Teddy Swims, and Kodak Black. The partnership expands Hook’s library with 300,000 artists while ensuring artists and rights holders are compensated.
Hook says this collaboration addresses the rise of unlicensed remixes on social media by providing a structured way for fans to create and share music. The company’s CEO, Gaurav Sharma, highlighted the importance of maintaining control over intellectual property while creating new revenue opportunities for artists.
Too Lost, which distributes over 7 million songs and 150,000 releases per month, sees this as a way to support independent artists in reaching new audiences. CEO Greg Hirschhorn stated that the partnership allows creators to engage with music in a way that benefits both fans and artists.
Hook users can earn money through the app’s leaderboard and label-sponsored partnerships, with future opportunities for revenue sharing. Since launching five months ago, Hook has experienced 83% monthly user growth and now features tracks from artists like Future, Migos, and Killer Mike.
