DDG Encourages More Youtubers To Take Music Seriously While Teasing New Project.

YouTube star and rapper DDG wants to see more content creators explore music seriously, just as he has. In a new interview with XXL published on Monday, February 24, he spoke about his desire for more artists to balance both careers.

“I hate being the only artist that’s doing both,” he said. “If more people took music seriously while also creating content, going on tour, and doing the things that artists do, we would have a stronger presence in the industry.”

Recently, DDG faced criticism after collaborating with Tory Lanez on his Handling Business EP. Lanez’s verse referenced the ongoing tensions between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which led Hitta J3, an affiliate of Kendrick, to call out DDG on social media.

Hitta J3 posted on X, suggesting that Lanez should stay out of the situation and claiming that DDG acted differently when they met in person. He also implied that DDG needed more industry support, noting that Lanez, who is currently incarcerated, was speaking on his behalf instead of other artists.

DDG responded to the comments during a live stream, saying he was confused by the backlash. He questioned why people were upset with him when he did not write the verse and simply released the song. He also mentioned that his own verse had been recorded earlier and was not related to the recent events.

During his conversation with XXL, DDG also revealed that he is currently working on a new project, though he did not share a release date.
