Rhode Island’s Franchise Report welcomed back Yaboi Loco, a high-energy artist known for his animated performances and genre-blending music. Hosted by DJ Franchise and Lovely Leticia, the interview covered Loco’s relentless touring, his creative inspirations, and the latest developments in his career.
Since his last visit, Yaboi Loco has been actively touring, performing across six states and 33 cities. He emphasized that his goal is to find his “tribe”—people who connect with his sound and energetic persona. He noted that his fan base is strongest in the Midwest and the South rather than in the Northeast.
DJ Franchise compared Loco’s high-energy style to hip-hop greats like Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, acknowledging that such an electrifying stage presence is rare. Loco agreed, stating that his natural energy sets him apart. He also praised Massachusetts artist Key as someone he admires for her creativity and versatility, describing her as a blend of Doja Cat, Rico Nasty, and Doechii. Despite multiple attempts to collaborate, he humorously called her out for ignoring his DMs.
Loco recently dropped his album Loco Mania, which features a mix of four to five different genres tailored to the diverse audiences he’s encountered on tour. He highlighted his track with Gorilla Zoe, which quickly amassed 15,000–20,000 streams in its first week. He also mentioned his past collaboration with Bizarre (of D12) and teased potential features from BSO Manny and other artists from Connecticut and New York.
The conversation shifted to Fall River’s local rap scene, where tensions have been escalating between artists. Loco distanced himself from the drama, emphasizing that he has always supported the local scene by offering free studio time and networking opportunities. However, he acknowledged that after gaining recognition by opening for major artists, some locals turned against him out of jealousy. He clarified that he now focuses on working with people who bring positive energy and ambition.
With his latest project gaining traction, Yaboi Loco is looking to solidify his sound and identify which audience resonates with him most. He hinted that his next album will hone in on that niche while maintaining his signature creativity and high-energy delivery.
