A$AP Rocky has been appointed as the first creative director for Ray-Ban Studios, a creative platform that highlights the work and stories of musicians. In a press release, he shared his appreciation for Ray-Ban’s ability to maintain its heritage while adapting to new trends. He expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the brand’s legacy and helping shape its future.
His first project in this role will be the Blacked Out Collection, which is set to launch in April. The collection features updated Mega eyewear models with ultra-black lenses and gold-plated details, blending classic designs with modern influences. Ray-Ban’s president, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, described the collaboration as a natural fit, stating that Rocky’s creativity and boundary-pushing approach align with the company’s vision.
Beyond product design, Rocky will be involved in directing brand campaigns and reimagining retail spaces with an emphasis on music and the arts. His appointment was officially announced on February 20, shortly after he won a legal case that had been ongoing for several years.
In addition to his new role, Rocky is preparing for the release of his long-awaited fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. He recently teased the project on social media, generating excitement among fans. The album follows Testing (2018) and is expected to include contributions from artists and producers such as Tyler, the Creator, Metro Boomin, Alchemist, and Pharrell.
Speaking about the album’s delay in a 2024 interview, Rocky cited leaks and clearance issues as factors. However, he also noted that the additional time allowed him to refine the project, ensuring that it meets his creative standards. He described himself as a perfectionist and emphasized his desire to explore all possibilities before finalizing the music.
