DVM Housing Partners has set the stage for a transformative project that’s poised to redefine Mattapan’s Blue Hill Avenue corridor. Dubbed “Blume on the Ave,” the initiative brings together affordable housing, commercial innovation, and community-first design to address critical housing challenges while amplifying the neighborhood’s vibrant identity.
A Vision Rooted in Community
With an emphasis on “revitalization from within,” the Blue Hill Ave B1 Parcels project is more than just another development—it’s a direct response to Mattapan’s long-standing needs and aspirations. By working with over 50 community members during the branding process, DVM Housing Partners ensured that the voices of residents played a pivotal role in shaping the project’s goals and aesthetics.
“@BlumeOnTheAve was built by you and for you!” DVM shared on Instagram, celebrating the collaborative effort.
The Blueprint for Blume on the Ave
The project spans three mixed-use buildings, designed to balance residential and commercial spaces seamlessly. Key highlights include:
- 30 Affordable Homeownership Condos: Offering stability and affordability, these units aim to protect existing residents from the risk of displacement.
- 3,300 Sq. Ft. of Commercial Space: Featuring three commercial spaces, including an artist co-workspace, the development seeks to empower neighborhood entrepreneurs and creators.
- Outdoor Spaces for Residents: Thoughtfully designed outdoor areas provide a sanctuary for relaxation and connection.
This innovative blend of residential and commercial infrastructure not only addresses immediate housing needs but also fosters opportunities for economic growth and creative expression.
Design and Branding Excellence
DVM partnered with industry visionaries to bring the brand to life. A shoutout went to @samstudiospace for crafting the strategy and to designers @byalexjoachim and @koolaidgeorge for their top-tier execution.
The branding, aptly named “Blume on the Ave,” symbolizes growth, opportunity, and community pride—a fitting homage to the neighborhood it serves.
A Model for Urban Revitalization
DVM Housing Partners’ approach to the B1 Parcels exemplifies a forward-thinking model of urban development: building affordable homes while fostering economic and cultural opportunities within the community. As Boston faces mounting challenges around housing affordability and displacement, projects like this set the standard for inclusive and sustainable growth.
The Blue Hill Avenue B1 Parcels project isn’t just reshaping Mattapan’s skyline—it’s redefining what it means to build a community from the ground up.
