PartyNextDoor’s 2013 hit “Break From Toronto” has reached one billion Spotify streams, marking a milestone as the Canadian artist’s first song to achieve this.
OVO Sound celebrated the accomplishment on social media on Friday, January 24, while Party received more good news: his single “Resentment,” from PARTYNEXTDOOR 4, was certified gold by the RIAA.
Reflecting on “Break From Toronto,” Party revealed during a past interview how he crafted the track. Sampling Miguel’s “Girl with the Tattoo Enter.Lewd,” he created the beat at his kitchen table and recorded it within three hours. The track appeared on his debut mixtape, which peaked at No. 34 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
PARTYNEXTDOOR 4 became Party’s third top 10 project on the Billboard 200 and earned a spot on Billboard’s 10 Best R&B Albums of 2024.
