Lil Baby has once again proven his staying power in the rap game, earning his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with WHAM. Despite mixed critical reviews, fans have embraced the project, leading to stronger-than-expected sales in its debut week.
Initially projected to sell 130K units in its first week, WHAM outperformed expectations, closing with 145K units sold. This achievement placed Lil Baby ahead of Bad Bunny, whose latest release garnered 118K units. The competition was close, but Lil Baby secured the top spot on the charts, underscoring his continued popularity.
This marks Lil Baby’s fourth chart-topping album, following My Turn (2020), It’s Only Me (2022), and his collaboration with Lil Durk, The Voice of the Heroes (2021). While WHAM didn’t surpass the first-week numbers of My Turn (197K) or It’s Only Me (216K), it still represents a significant milestone in his career. The rapper’s release of an extended version of WHAM on January 9 is expected to further boost the album’s second-week performance.
In addition to his latest success, My Turn was recently recognized as the only hip-hop album to crack the top ten on Billboard’s list of the biggest albums of the 21st century. This accolade cements Lil Baby’s place as a leading figure in modern rap, with My Turn standing as the most impactful rap album of the last 25 years.
For fans, the momentum continues as Lil Baby is reportedly filming a music video with Future for one of WHAM‘s bonus tracks.
