Live Nation has been awarded the bid to operate a 19,000-seat outdoor amphitheater set to open in Shakopee, Minnesota, in 2025. Located within the $400 million Canterbury Commons entertainment district near Canterbury Park, the venue is expected to host over 30 events each summer and create 700 jobs.
The amphitheater, developed by Swervo Development Corp., will feature a sloped artificial turf lawn accommodating 5,000 attendees, two elevated beer gardens, and VIP skyboxes for up to 500 people. Swervo President Ned Abdul emphasized the collaboration’s potential to benefit artists and fans alike.
Live Nation, which operates more than 265 venues across North America, including Minneapolis’ Fillmore, plans to make this site a regional entertainment hub with scenic views of the Minnesota River Valley. In addition to the amphitheater, Canterbury Commons will include nearly 1,000 apartments, restaurants, a brewery, and office spaces.
The development comes as Live Nation faces a U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit over alleged monopolization of the live entertainment industry, though the case’s future under the incoming Trump administration remains uncertain.
