Dr. Linda J.M. Holloway, an Associate Professor at Alabama State University with over 30 years of teaching experience, has made a significant impact through her award-winning educational children’s books. Inspired by her research on sensitive topics, she transforms complex issues into stories that resonate with children, parents, and educators. Her books tackle challenges like hair bullying, mental health, sickle cell disease, colorism, social activism, divorce, and grief—issues often affecting Black communities.
Dr. Holloway uses creative methods to make these topics accessible, incorporating “Learning Out Loud” (L.O.L.) questions, scavenger hunts, pledges, and even songs and dances into her books. Her engaging approach encourages discussion and active learning. She extends her influence through dynamic speaking engagements and a YouTube presence, where she brings her books to life in fun, interactive ways.
