The Weeknd is by far one of the most successful musicians of all time as he keeps smashing records and now holds another Spotify record.
The Canadian superstar, real name Abel Tesfaye, reportedly smashed Spotify’s all-time record for the number of monthly global listeners among all artists.
The Weeknd surpasses Ed Sheeran, who held the previous record with 82.40 million monthly listeners, with 94.734 million. Justin Bieber (81.43 million), Taylor Swift (81.21 million), and Ariana Grande round out the top five (77.18m).
The “Starboy” hitmaker retweeted Pop Crave’s tweet about the accomplishment but hasn’t made a statement about it.
The announcement comes shortly after The Weeknd’s 2019 mega hit “Blinding Lights” surpassed all previous records for Spotify’s most streamed music.
