Skitta-Skat on Securing a Deal, His Upcoming EP, and the DMV Music Scene.

In an exclusive interview with ‘Smack Life TV’, rising DMV artist Skitta-Skat delves into his journey through music and the exciting milestones ahead. With his first solo project on the horizon and a distribution deal with industry heavyweight Chris Gotti, Skitta-Skat is ready to make waves beyond the local scene.

Skitta-Skat reflects on how he got into music, beginning his journey at just 10 years old, heavily influenced by his mother and older brother. Growing up in various parts of Prince George’s County and attending Friendly High School, he worked alongside his brother to develop his unique sound. Influenced by icons like Cash Money, Tupac, and Biggie, Skitta-Skat has evolved alongside the DMV hip-hop scene, crediting Wale for opening doors for local artists.

In the interview, Skitta-Skat shares memories of the DMV scene during Jazz Swerve’s early rise, a period that shaped his artistic journey. He recalls how his persistence and talent led him to win a major competition, which resulted in a distribution deal with Chris Gotti’s label, Adventures Music. This partnership is a major boost for his upcoming EP, ‘Where I’m At Now’, set to drop in November. The project will feature production from DJ Tre Gotti, Raphael RJ2, Phil Tyler, and T Beats.

Skitta-Skat’s accomplishments don’t stop at music. He won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist at the 2023 DMV Music and Movie Awards, further solidifying his position in the regional scene. He also emphasizes the importance of networking, social media promotion, and seeking opportunities like attending South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

In addition to music, Skitta-Skat is venturing into acting with his role in the film ‘The New Balance Boys’. As he prepares for his EP release, Skitta-Skat encourages fans and aspiring artists to stay connected and support local talent in the DMV area.
