Kanye West Takes Full Creative Control Of His New Album 'Bully’, A Black-Owned Production.

Kanye West is reportedly set to take full creative control of his upcoming album Bully, marking the first time since his 2004 debut The College Dropout that he’s handling all, if not most, of the production on his own. According to journalist and podcaster Touré, Kanye, now living in Japan, is working on the album from his hotel room, where he has set up all his recording equipment.

In a video shared on Instagram, Touré said, “Kanye is now living in Tokyo, working hard on his next album Bully. It’s a concept album, and he plans to be the only producer on it.” He emphasized that this album will be different from Kanye’s usual collaborative process, saying, “Traditionally, Kanye works with a team of producers and writers. This time, it’s pretty much him doing it alone.”

Touré added on his Substack that Kanye’s travels have exposed him to a wide range of musical influences, which could result in a diverse sound. However, he noted, “This album is 100% Kanye West. He’s producing everything himself, which hasn’t happened in many years.”

Kanye first revealed Bully last month during a show in China, where he previewed some tracks, including “Beauty and the Beast” and another unreleased song titled “Preacher Man,” which he also performed at a concert with Ty Dolla $ign in Asia. Although Vultures 3, his joint project with Ty, was initially expected to be his next release, it seems Kanye has shifted his focus entirely to Bully.

Fans are eager to see how this new direction will shape Kanye’s next chapter in music.
