DDG and Halle Bailey have decided to part ways. The rapper announced their split in an Instagram Story post on Thursday evening, October 3.
“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.”
DDG and Halle Bailey went public with their relationship in January 2022. The couple welcomed their son, Halo, late in 2023, announcing his birth in January. They shared the first photos of their baby boy in July after a trip to Italy.
Despite their breakup, DDG emphasized that they will remain “best friends” and continue to support each other as they navigate co-parenting. “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true,” he stated. “We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
The couple faced breakup rumors in April when they allegedly unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted some photos together, as reported by Elle. That same month, Halle spoke about experiencing “severe” postpartum depression. “It’s hard for me to be separated from my baby for more than 30 minutes at a time before I start to kind of freak out,” she said on Snapchat. “When I look at him, I cry because of how special he is.”
Recently, DDG and Halle attended Usher’s Past Present Future Tour in Los Angeles together. They are asking fans for “understanding and support” as they figure out their next steps. “As we navigate this transition, we ask for your understanding and support,” DDG concluded. “Thank you for your love and encouragement.”
