Lil Durk Drops ‘Turn Up A Notch’ As He Builds Momentum for Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 Release.

Lil Durk has continued promoting his upcoming album with the release of a new single titled “Turn Up a Notch.” Released on Wednesday (September 25), the track features the Chicago rapper ramping up his energy as he flows over a dynamic, guitar-driven beat produced by Southside and Smatt Sertified.

In the song’s hook, Smurk delivers defiant lyrics: “Back in 2012, they counted me out / I had to turn up a notch / Back then, them hoes fuckin’ for clout / I had to turn up a notch / I’m thinkin’ you happy, but lowkey you doubted me / I had to turn up a notch / Sleepin’ on porches, I served off the balcony / I had to turn up a notch.”

The accompanying video, directed by Jerry Production, showcases Lil Durk enjoying the rewards of his hard-earned success, with cameos from Sexyy Red and Hunxho. “Turn Up a Notch” seems to be the latest single from his forthcoming album Love Songs 4 the Streets 3, which he’s been teasing throughout the year.

Back in January, Durk announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the project was complete, writing: “Love songs 4 the streets 3 done…….. ima be on asap.” The post included a screenshot of an Instagram Story from Kanye West, urging Durk to activate his Instagram and start the album rollout.

So far, Durk has released two other songs from the album: “Went Hollywood For a Year” and “Old Days.” On “Old Days,” produced by Southside, Smatt Sertified, and Wasa, Durk opens up about his struggles with drug addiction, admitting: “I miss the old days, the old ways, my history iconic / I was takin’ so many pills, I was so high, I really abused it / Started sellin’ Percs, I turned around and started to use it.”

He also reflects on the emotional impact of seeing leaked autopsy photos of his late friend King Von, stating: “The autopsy of Von body had me coughin’ up my vomit.”

Love Songs 4 the Streets 3 will be the sequel to 2019’s Love Songs 4 the Streets 2 and marks Lil Durk’s first full-length project since last year’s Almost Healed.
