Atlanta Declares September 17th As Rich Homie Quan Day In Honor Of The Late Rapper’s Legacy.

September 17th has been officially designated as Rich Homie Quan Day in Atlanta. The rapper was laid to rest yesterday (Sept. 17) during a homegoing ceremony at World Changers Church International in College Park. At the event, the Atlanta City Council announced that September 17th would be permanently recognized as Rich Homie Quan Day.

Killer Mike spoke at the ceremony, reflecting on the rapper’s inner struggles at the time of his passing. “Our writing is shaped by the experiences we live through, and believe me, that smile he carried held the same weight you feel,” Mike said.

He continued, “Sometimes, that smile masked deep pain, but he still brought joy, love, and laughter to his audience. So I want to remind us all to forgive ourselves for our own struggles.”

Comedian DC Young Fly also paid tribute to the rapper, addressing Quan’s parents and pledging to uphold his legacy. “You gave us an icon, a legend,” he said. “We’re all on borrowed time, and what he achieved in his time here made a huge impact. We’ll continue his legacy.”

Quan tragically passed away on Sept. 5 at 34 years old, with the cause of death still under investigation.

Since his death, many in the hip-hop community, from Jacquees to Lil Kim, have honored him. Even his former label, Think It’s A Game Records, with whom he had legal disputes over royalties, posted a heartfelt tribute.

“To know Quan was to love him,” the label wrote on Instagram. “His warmth and infectious energy instantly drew people in, making everyone feel valued. He was rich in spirit.”

The statement continued, “Your impact is immeasurable, and we all feel the void left by your absence. Even in our grief, your music continues to offer comfort. Your sound, your message, and your passion will live on forever. We cherish every moment and project we shared with you.”
