Kendrick Lamar – Not Like Us

After filming in his hometown of Compton and performing the song six times consecutively at his “The Pop Out” concert on June 19, Kendrick Lamar finally released the music video for “Not Like Us” on July 4th.

Directed by Dave Free and Kendrick Lamar, the video addresses the allegations made against Lamar in Drake’s diss track “The Heart Part 6.” The visual showcases Lamar celebrating in Compton, featuring cameos from the track’s producer Mustard, the Godfather of Krump Tommy The Clown, former Toronto Raptor DeMar DeRozan, and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Additionally, Lamar’s fiancée Whitney Alford and their two children appear dancing together in a living room, countering Drake’s claim in “Family Matters” that Free fathered one of Lamar’s children with Alford.

The video for “Not Like Us” serves as a victory lap for Lamar, with the song becoming his biggest hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and emerging as a strong contender for Song of the Summer.
