J. Cole Responds to Kendrick Lamar’s Diss with Surprise Album “Might Delete Later”

While Drake has hinted at his response to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Like That” during his tour, J. Cole took a more direct approach. He dropped his new album “Might Delete Later” unexpectedly, with the closing track “7 Minute Drill” serving as a clear reply to Lamar.

In a surprise drop, J. Cole revealed his new album, “Might Delete Later, early on April 5th. This marks his first full-length project since 2021’s “The Off-Season”. The album features a star-studded guest list, including Ari Lennox, Gucci Mane, and Cam’ron alongside rising talent like Bas.

The release comes hot on the heels of a rap feud. Just two weeks ago, Kendrick Lamar sparked controversy with his diss track “Like That,” taking shots at both Drake and J. Cole. Cole appears to fire back on the album’s closing track, “7 Minute Drill.” The song includes critiques of Lamar’s recent work and references the disparity in their Grammy awards (Lamar with 17 wins to Cole’s 2). “7 Minute Drill” ends by reigniting anticipation for Cole’s long-rumored album, “The Fall Off”.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” is still at the top of the US music charts. One thing for certain, two things for sure…Rap is alive and well.
