Beyoncé On Cowboy Carter: ‘This Ain’t A Country Album, It’s A Beyoncé Album.

Earlier today (March 19), Beyoncé took to Instagram to express her gratitude to her fans before the release of her highly anticipated act ii COWBOY CARTER project. She began by thanking everyone involved in the success of her singles “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES.”

“I am grateful to be the first Black woman with a No. 1 single on the Hot Country Songs chart. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the overwhelming support from each and every one of you,” she wrote. Beyoncé also expressed her hope that in the future, an artist’s race will no longer be a factor when it comes to releasing music across genres.

Beyoncé then delved into the journey that led to the creation of COWBOY CARTER. “This album has been in the works for over five years. It originated from an experience where I felt unwelcome and excluded,” she shared. “That experience pushed me to explore the history of country music and delve into our rich musical heritage. It’s heartening to see how music can bring people together globally while honoring those who have dedicated their lives to educating us about our musical past.”

She added, “The initial criticisms I faced in this genre motivated me to surpass the limitations placed on me. act ii is a product of pushing myself, blending genres, and creating this body of work over time.” Beyoncé hinted at surprises on the project and clarified that it doesn’t fit into a specific genre. “This is not strictly a country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album,” she emphasized.
