New Music For "Avatar: The Way Of The Water" From The Weeknd

Fans are asking what The Weeknd is working on for the next movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, after he disclosed he is.

On Sunday, December 4, the Canadian singer went on Twitter and shared a post with the blue Avatar logo and a 12-second audio clip.

The Weeknd added “12.16.22” to his ominous post.

Producer of the movie Jon Landau also tweeted a photo of himself with The Weeknd with the caption, “As the Na’vi say, ‘Zola’u nprrte’ soaiane Avatar’… Greetings from the Avatar family.

Although it’s unclear exactly how The Weeknd is connected to the movie, many people think it has something to do with the soundtrack. The Weeknd collaborated with Dawn FM to release new music last time.

The James Cameron-directed movie is scheduled for release on December 16. This film is a direct sequel to 2009’s Avatar, which earned $2.92 billion worldwide, had nine Oscar nominations, and won three of them for best art direction, best cinematography, and best visual effects.

The Weeknd has been working on more than just a big-budget film. Sam Levinson of Euphoria and the leader of XO are collaborating on the upcoming HBO Max TV program The Idol. The drama centers on The Weeknd as a club owner and cult leader in Los Angeles who develops a tangled romance with a budding pop singer (Lily-Rose Depp).

Along with former Saved by the Bell star Elizabeth Berkley, Power Book II: Ghost actress Melanie Liburd, and multi-award-winning Anne Heche, the cast also features Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, and Rachel Sennott.

The Idol was first announced in June 2021 and started filming in and around Los Angeles last November. It is produced by A24, Bron Creative, Little Lamb, and HBO Entertainment. However, news that the cast had changed and the show’s creative focus had changed surfaced in April.

The Weeknd offered fans an explosive, X-rated sneak peek at what has been dubbed “the sleaziest love tale in all of Hollywood” in a 93-second teaser he posted on social media in July.

DO YOU TRUST ME? The XO hitmaker wrote while releasing the clip, “#THEIDOL is coming soon to @hbomax from the wicked and twisted minds of Sam Levinson and @TheWeeknd, starring Lily-Rose Depp.
