The 5th Annual Black Business Ball, hosted by Black Business Enterprises (BBE), returns to Minneapolis, Minnesota, on October 19th for an evening dedicated to celebrating, empowering, and supporting Black-owned businesses. Since its inception in 2020, this gala has become a key event, bringing together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community members to honor the achievements and resilience of Black entrepreneurs.
The Black Business Ball serves as a powerful platform for fostering community and economic empowerment. It also acts as an annual fundraiser, with proceeds given as grants to Black-owned businesses that are members of BBE. These grants provide critical financial support, helping these businesses grow, thrive, and continue making a positive impact in their communities.
Black Business Enterprises (BBE) was founded by Nancy Korsah, an Italy-born Ghanaian and Twin Cities-based entrepreneur, who envisioned a platform to support business owners’ growth. BBE’s mission is “To help minorities establish their worth to wealth,” focusing on providing resources, mentorship, and access to vital networks for Black entrepreneurs. Based in Minneapolis, the nonprofit organization aims to improve the financial standing and business prospects of minority-owned businesses.
The Black Business Ball started in response to the economic challenges Black-owned businesses faced following the civil unrest after George Floyd’s passing. It has since become a symbol of hope and solidarity, celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship and resilience within the Black community. This year marks the fifth anniversary of this impactful event.
The event will take place on Saturday, October 19th, at Mosaic Venue, Minneapolis. Guests will be greeted with a red-carpet entrance starting at 6:00 PM, with the event concluding at 10:00 PM. The ball will feature a special performance by Yung Joc, adding excitement to the evening’s celebrations. In addition to live entertainment, there will be a silent auction, with proceeds supporting the growth of Black-owned businesses through the BBE grant program.
The event highlights include a glamorous red-carpet experience, inspirational speeches, and a special awards ceremony honoring outstanding Black-owned businesses. Attendees will also have opportunities to network and build connections that could foster future business growth.
Tickets for the 5th Annual Black Business Ball are still available, but limited, and early booking is encouraged. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Black Business Enterprises Fund, furthering its mission to uplift and empower Black entrepreneurs.
