50 Cent has confirmed Snoop Dogg’s claim that Doggystyle helped shape his debut album. On Tuesday (Nov. 18), the rapper reposted a 2018 SiriusXM interview where Snoop told DJ Suss One that 50 studied the 1993 classic before making Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Snoop said the album served as a foundation similar to how Dr. Dre and the DOC guided him early in his career.
Snoop explained that 50 adapted the influence from a New York perspective, shaping his own approach while learning from the West Coast blueprint. In an Instagram post, 50 agreed with the story, writing that Doggystyle was essential listening for making strong creative choices.
The two later collaborated on multiple tracks, including 50’s 2003 single “P.I.M.P.” and the more recent Dr. Dre–produced “Gunz n Smoke” with Eminem. In a previous interview with Complex, Snoop reflected on recording Doggystyle, noting that he focused on being “free” creatively while following Dr. Dre’s direction.
